My name is Bob Cashman and I am running for a seat on the
Wildomar City Council at the election on  February 5, 2008.

Many of you know me from the various community affairs that I have been involved with over the last 29 years.  In the last four years, I have been the Chairman of Wildomar Incorporation Now (WIN), the committee which successfully brought
the issue of city hood to a vote.

I have dedicated more hours than
I can count towards making cityhood
a reality for Wildomar residents.

In a new city, the ability to get things done is invaluable.  I believe that
my ongoing efforts and accomplishments speak for themselves and I hope
that you will allow me to continue to accomplish great things for Wildomar.

  • In 200l I was the cartographer for the Wildomar Community Map that was published by the Wildomar Chamber
    of Commerce.

I am one of the founders and the current President of the
Wildomar Historical Society, a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization.
Wildomar was founded in 1886 and has a long and interesting history.

In addition to work and family, I have been involved in education and was elected
and served a term as a Trustee on the Lake Elsinore School Board.
This is where I gained experience with the budget, facilities,
and other complex issues of a public organization.

Over the years I have been involved in many community activities.  I have promoted our library system, been involved in student science and history projects, and have been a member of   the Wildomar MAC committee.  In that capacity, I promoted and helped write the proposal for designating Wildomar as an Unincorporated Community.  As a result of my activities I have dealt with issues of code enforcement, fire and police services, flooding, environmental analysis,  noise, roads, and planning.

(November 2002).

In our presentations to LAFCO, I helped to explain the financial plan for the new city, zoning and land development plans, and the plan for new services, including improvements in law enforcement and fire services.

Wildomar is known for its friendly small town feel, open spaces, and community participation. Individual effort still matters in Wildomar and it seems volunteers are always organizing to make this a better place to live. This is what I have always liked about Wildomar.

One of my tasks on the city council will be to preserve some of the vistas and natural scenery that gives Wildomar it’s charm and desirability while allowing responsible growth. I would like to think that there will always be some horses and larger properties, and that there will still be some stars visible at night.

I am an aerospace Engineer. Over the years I have worked on the flight controls of both military and commercial aircraft. I bring my analytical skills to the community organizations that I work with. You can expect the same skills to be useful to the new City council.

I enjoy building things, working the land, and walking in the native habitat area that still is present in parts of Wildomar. The American dream of owning our own home was realized 29 years ago when Diane and I purchased two acres in Wildomar.  Like the pioneers of old Wildomar, we built our own home
from design to completion.

In the Wildomar of the future, I would like to think that there will
always be some place for this type of independence and self-determination.
